About The Waxwing

In 2012, founder Steph Davies started The Waxwing in a small storefront in Shorewood to act as her personal studio and a space to showcase her illustrative work & jewelry designs (which she creates under the name, Dear Darlington) as well as the work of other local makers.

In 2015 the store expanded to it's home on Milwaukee's East Side at the corner of North Ave & Oakland Ave. The new space allowed room to grow from representing around 100 artists to showcasing the work of over 350 local & national artisans.

With the Covid pandemic of 2020, they shifted gears once again; closing the North Ave storefront & moving into a showroom in Milwaukee’s Clarke Square neighborhood.

Most recently, in June of 2026, The Waxwing has found a new home on Milwaukee's East Side at 2201 N Farwell Ave.  You can shop in person Tuesday-Friday 12pm-8pm, Saturday 10am-8pm and on Sunday 10am-6pm.

The Waxwing strives to bring in quality handmade work from artists in the community and around the country so that you can treat yourself or find the perfect gift.
